Film Transfer FAQ’s

What makes Peterson Design Studio's transfer process better?

The biggest factor that sets us apart is we care about preserving your films. We are NOT a high volume transfer factory. We do not run thousands of feet of footage a day. We are painstakingly accurate in correctly capturing and color balancing your film from scene to scene. We understand your fear of handing over your precious films to just anyone. When you choose Peterson Design Studio to do your high quality film transfer, we treat your priceless films like they are our own. See our process for more information and what sets us apart.

How many years has Peterson Design Studio been in business?

We have been in business since 2001. We have been transfering films digitally since 2005.

What are the accepted forms of payment and what are the payment terms?

We accept business checks, money orders and credit card payments with PayPal. Personal checks for Michigan residents only (bounced checks will be charged a $40 fee). Credit card payments are through PayPal. If using PayPal, we’ll send you a link to make online payment. Payment in full is due at end of project. Final transferred materials are shipped when full payment is received. Original supplied film and final converted media are returned in seperate shipments if requested.

How long does the transfer take?

Allthough actual turnaround times depend on the size/complexity of a project, all work is performed in-house with a typical turn-around time of 5-7 business days. If your turn time is longer, we will notify you.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM EST. Call us (1-616-915-1033) for additional hours, extended drop-off times or local West Michigan/Grand Rapids pick up and delivery.

Do you have a money back guarantee policy?

We guarentee the quality of our transfers. We have a 100% approval rating on our transfer services. We will work with you to correct any issues you may have. In the unlikely event that you are still unsatisfied we will refund the order total excluding shipping expenses. We do the best we can to correct issues such as over or under exposed films and other issues, but of course if the source material is not there, or there is a problem with the orginally shot footage, we can't enhance it. We will inform you of any issues with your footage.

How do I check on the status of my order?

You may check the status of your order by call us Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM EST at 1-616-915-1033 or by contacting us.

Is it safe, will you return my originals?

Our transfer process is safe. We capture your film using our frame by frame digital process. We return ship films and transfers by tracked courier only, signature required. We return all films on their original reels. We do not keep original source films.

Will my DVD player play the DVD disk that you create?

Our DVD recordable media is compatible with roughly 95% of all DVD players and DVD-ROM drives and meet universal standards for compatibility. Any incompatibility is due to nonconforming players and not the fault of the disc.
